Andrew Cuomo's deputy secretary for gaming and racing was identified Thursday as the state official whose e-mail to the New York Racing Association resulted in the Wandering Dago lunch truck being bounced from the Saratoga Race Course just hours later.Bennett Liebman's July 19 e-mail to NYRA President Christopher Kay -- which does not explicitly order the food truck's ouster -- was introduced Thursday morning during oral arguments in a federal lawsuit brought by the controversially named fusion barbecue truck's owners. "Is there any way to at least modify the name of this particular truck? I see this as a problem waiting to blow up."The e-mail was sent at 2:59 p.m. on the first day of the meet; seven hours later, the truck's owners got the bad news from NYRA Vice President Stephen Travers that they'd have to operate under a different name or depart the premises. Indeed, she said that OGS would be able to remove someone holding a placard bearing ethnic slurs.Greenberg suggested the suit was nothing more than an attempt by the Wandering Dago to boost its business by making the epithet in its name "a household word in the Capital Region.He said a decision in the Wandering Dago's favor could be the prelude to offensive language showing up on products sold in schools or Little League concession stands.The track, he said, doesn't exist as a free-speech forum but as a commercial enterprise designed to maximize attendance, and that the Wandering Dago's presence imperiled that mission.Greenberg mocked Carpinello's suggestion that there was something nefarious about top state officials being involved in the decision to ban the cart, calling it "a conspiracy theory I think they're trying to hatch." His arraignment is slated for Oct. 2.He also reached a deal to pay a civil penalty of $53.5 million for "failure to file a foreign bank account report," Warner's attorney said in a separate statement. Warner did not return phone calls seeking comment. The amount could make it the largest offshore-account penalty ever publicly reported, said Jack Townsend, a Houston lawyer who tracks offshore account cases.The Oak Brook resident was charged with using a secret Swiss bank account to avoid U.S. taxes, the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago said. Warner's lawyer, Gregory Scandaglia, confirmed Warner reached an agreement to resolve an investigation into an overseas account he opened in 1996.Such secret accounts cost the Treasury at least $100 billion annually, a U.S. Senate report estimated in 2008.Since an IRS crackdown on such accounts began in 2009, the U.S. has prosecuted 68 U.S. taxpayers, three Swiss banks, and 30 bankers, lawyers and advisers. An additional 38,000 Americans have moved $5.5 billion to the U.S. and avoided prosecution by disclosing who helped them hide their money.Warner, 69, is the sole owner of Westmont-based toy designer Ty Inc. and ranks 209th in a recent Forbes list of richest Americans. His net worth is estimated at $2.6 billion. He also has a hotel chain; Ty Warner Hotel & Resort Properties includes the I.M. Pei-created Four Seasons Hotel in New York, which features the "Ty Warner Penthouse." The low-profile Warner has rarely granted interviews."Warner went to great lengths to hide from his accountants and the IRS more than $3.1 million in foreign income generated in a secret Swiss account," Gary Shapiro, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, said in a statement. He failed to pay taxes of $885,300 on that income, court documents said."This is an unfortunate situation that Mr. Warner has been trying to resolve for years now," Scandaglia said. "Mr. Warner accepts full responsibility for his actions with this plea agreement."Warner is the second taxpayer charged in federal court in Chicago in connection with an ongoing investigation of U.S. taxpayer clients of Union Bank of Switzerland, better known as UBS, and other overseas banks that hid foreign accounts from the IRS.The first was UBS customer Peter Troost, 79, owner of a Skokie cemetery monument company who pleaded guilty in March to using a Swiss bank account to evade taxes. (Troost is not affiliated with longtime monument company Peter Troost Monument Co. of Hillside.)Troost paid more than $1 million in back taxes, as well as $3.75 million in penalties.In July, a federal judge said those payments alone would not sufficiently deter wealthy tax cheats. He also sentenced Troost to one year and one day in prison, in addition to 200 hours of community service after he is released from prison, and $32,500 in additional fines.Reached on Wednesday, Troost said he and other tax evaders deserve to be punished, but jail time was unwarranted. He has not yet begun to serve prison time and said he is appealing his sentence."I feel that I'm being unjustly treated," Troost said. "I paid a very substantial penalty, and I'm very remorseful. ... This incarceration is ridiculous."Whether Warner will also face jail time is uncertain.Chicago attorney Robert McKenzie, a partner at Arnstein & Lehr, said many judges have been tacking on prison sentences in addition to stiff fines. "It depends partly on the judge, but given Mr. Troost's events, I think (Warner) has a danger that he might be sent to jail."So far, most of the people sentenced in the crackdown have received probation, according to Bloomberg News.Laws requiring reporting of foreign accounts have been around for decades. Taxpayers must report financial accounts in foreign countries if the total value of the accounts exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year.But the government began taking a harder look at offshore accounts after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, largely funded by foreign money coming into the U.S. The Patriot Act required more reporting by financial institutions of money coming into and going out of the country, McKenzie said.The biggest breakthrough came in 2009, when UBS entered into an agreement with the United States, admitting that it helped taxpayers hide accounts from the IRS. As part of the deal, UBS paid a fine of $780 million and delivered the names of more t迷你倉an 4,000 clients, giving U.S. authorities information that enabled them to pursue other Swiss banks.Fourteen firms, including Credit Suisse Group AG, the second-largest Swiss bank; HSBC Holdings Plc, the largest European bank; and Julius Baer Group Ltd., Switzerland's third-largest wealth manager, are under criminal investigation.The IRS has conducted several amnesty programs since 2009, allowing U.S. taxpayers who had failed to report offshore accounts to pay stiff penalties but avoid prosecution. Warner applied to the program in 2009 but was rejected.The Chicago area alone likely has thousands of foreign-bank account holders who have come forward as a result of the IRS crackdown and taken advantage of amnesty programs, McKenzie said. He said he has represented some 240 clients who chose to voluntarily disclose their previously unreported foreign accounts and pay the back taxes and penalties."I think there are lots of Americans who have foreign accounts, not just Swiss accounts," he said. "We know that hundreds of thousands of Americans now properly report their foreign accounts as a result of this crackdown since 2009."But McKenzie said he has talked with about 100 more people who didn't want to pay the penalties and presumably decided to take their chances by continuing to hide money in offshore accounts.More than half the people McKenzie has represented in amnesty cases are immigrants, many from Asia and wealthier European countries. Some were ignorant of the reporting requirement, he said."I wouldn't characterize an immigrant who doesn't know the U.S. rules -- who doesn't report her account in Japan that she inherited from her dad -- as somebody who's evil," he said.Other clients "sought to beat the system.""I also have the out-and-out tax cheat," McKenzie said. Many have come forward to avoid criminal charges, he added.In Warner's case, the U.S. government says he maintained a secret offshore account with UBS starting in 1996.In December 2002, he transferred assets in his UBS account to a second Swiss financial institution, Zurcher Kantonalbank, when the account had a balance of $93.6 million, according to court documents.Warner also "concealed his name from being listed on the ZKB account by holding the account in the name of a purported 'Molani Foundation,'" court documents said.In 2002, Warner earned about $3.1 million in gross income through investments held in his UBS account, according to the charge. Warner allegedly committed tax evasion for that year by failing to tell his accountants about that income and by failing to report that income or the existence of the UBS account in his 2002 tax form filed with the IRS."By omitting his UBS income, Warner falsely reported his total income in 2002 was $49.1 million," according to the charge.Aside from alleged tax evasion, the deliberate failure to file a Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts form with the IRS can result in a civil penalty of up to 50 percent of the amount in the account at the time of the violation.Court documents said the account balance had reached $93.6 million. But that value fluctuated, and Warner's $53 million civil penalty is half of the peak balance during the relevant time period.Despite attempting to keep a low profile, Warner is also known as a philanthropist.In 1999, Warner agreed to donate $3 million to develop 36 acres of land into a park on Westmont's north side."I believe he fell in love with the concept of the park across the way from his complex," Westmont Mayor Ron Gunter said.The $3 million grew as Warner had ideas of amenities to add to the park: lighting for the athletic fields, a 1-mile path around the perimeter, a pavilion, tennis courts, decorative lighting, a formal fountain."We had that vision, too, but we didn't have the money," Gunter said.When Ty Warner Park opened on Independence Day 2000, its namesake had paid for more than three-fourths of the $12 million project."What he did for us is he gave us a showcase facility for the entire region," Gunter said. A few years later, Warner bought 5 acres just south of the park for $5 million and donated it to the Park District. Originally planned to be the site of a pool complex, it is home to a soccer field.In all, Warner gave about $14 million to the projects, Gunter said."We'd never have anywhere near the facility that we have now," Gunter said. Them's fightin' words.My knee-jerk reaction was defensiveness and outrage, but this lasted all of five seconds before my fist relaxed its clench. Because my Philly friend wasn't a headstrong lunk drunk on civic pride. He is a rational man.More important, he gave me an excuse to sample a lot of Philly cheesesteaks.Three things non-Philadelphians think they know about Philadelphia: It's always sunny there, Eagles fans are lunatics, and their sandwiches come with steak and cheese. The cheesesteak comes closest to our familiarity with the city. It's a tangible grease bomb with its own lingo (Whiz wit = Cheez Whiz with onions), spread nationwide through sports bars and mall food courts.The Chicago Italian beef by comparison, at least outside a 100-mile radius of downtown, remains a well-kept secret. From an ease-of-preparation standpoint, the Chicago Italian beef is far more laborious than a cheesesteak, requiring hours to marinate and roast, then sliced, plus jus. As culinary exports go, it stands a distant third behind Chicago's versions of pizza and hot dogs, so it hasn't cracked the ceiling of mainstream awareness where you'd find one served at some T.G. Fuddrucklebees.And so Chicago's Italian beef culture is dominated by larger chains that can handle the workload and volume -- Al's Beef, Portillo's, Buona Beef and the like. In Philadelphia, corner grills have their individualized takes on the cheesesteak, explaining how loyalties are factionalized to the city block level."There has been no successful cheesesteak stand that's come out of Philly. It's all mom-and-pop places that people love, with eccentric people running them. It's such a local thing," said Carolyn Wyman, author of "The Great Philly Cheesesteak Book." "It's an embodiment of what the people are like here: blue-collar, Democratic, sloppy, unsubtle and in-your-face. That's what the sandwich is like."What makes a good cheesesteak?True cheesesteaks today -- like the Italian beef -- are bound by certain ingredients. He integrates chopped onions, in a translucent state halfway between raw and caramelized. "It's kinda like pasta; it's got to be al dente," Markellos said.The steak and onions come together. That's the sound," said Jennifer Monti, pointing toward the kitchen at her namesake Lincoln Square restaurant, Monti's.The clanks have a specific cadence and rhythm, coming from the spatulas hitting the grill top, cleaver style, turning beef sheets into beef shards. The high-pitched clanks are followed by a longer, lower-on-the-register scrape, the sound made when the spatula's corner drags through the steak, further slicing the beef.The name of the restaurant was either going to be Monti's, or her husband James' last name, Gottwald. But Monti's at least ties back to the cheesesteak's Italian bloodlines, plus the name rolls off the tongue more easily.Gottwald handles the cooking end of the operation. Rib-eye cuts tend to have more fat, but the flavor is unmistakably beefier. On account of steak alone, Monti's is the standard bearer in Chicago.It wasn't the beef, though, that Gottwald and Monti said were most important, rather the bread.Having taken courses in food science, Gottwald insists the water composition in Philadelphia is different from Chicago's, and therefore, the bread doesn't taste the same. None of the local bakeries made a roll that satisfied him -- it had to have a chewy crust with a cotton-soft interior, less dense than say a French roll, with a strong spine that stays intact when you pick up the sandwich.At both Monti's and Philly's Best, the rolls come from Amoroso's, the 109-year-old bakery in Philadelphia supplying much of that city's cheesesteak purveyors. In a side-by-side taste test, most Chicagoans won't identify the minutiae distinguishing cheesesteak roll from non. Still, Amoroso's bread feels like a satisfying vehicle for steak, cheese and onions, a light-enough roll but with a heft holding up against the proteins' richness.(For what it's worth, Wyman talked to countless bakers for her book, and she's concluded the difference in tap water has a negligible effect in the final product. "It's not like the ingredients are any different. One of the (Philly) bakers comes to Chicago, he'll know exactly how to make it. The key is the roll's freshness.")The sandwiches at Philly Cheese Steak Express in Vernon Hills bear resemblance to the ones at Philly's Best -- not surprising, since its owner Vladislav Kostic is brother-in-law to Michael Markellos. Two minor differences: Kostic uses a different seasoning ratio (Greek spices, he says), and the bread is local, an Italian roll from Gonnella Baking Co. There are also a dozen other variations built upon the original cheesesteak, including one with beef and chicken, and others with teriyaki or buffalo hot sauce.What's most notable here is they serve Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer, Philadelphia's soft drink of choice. Birch beer shares a 90 percent taste with root beer, though the soda has a reddish hue, is lighter on the caramel creaminess and has a subtle licorice spice. It's quite sweet, and I suspect its primary allure is nostalgia.Tale of the tapeI won't dare claim their sandwich is better than ours. A few years ago, I dared to suggest adding ketchup to hot dogs is OK -- a sentiment I believe to my core -- but saying "The Philly cheesesteak is superior to the Chicago Italian beef" feels like provocation just to get a rise out of people.A more honest answer is that though both sandwiches are built on blocks of beef and bread, it'd be like comparing the hamburger to the hot dog. The mood and setting dictate. I've never craved a cheeseburger at a baseball stadium; hot dogs always call me out. Conversely, I can't imagine sitting at a pub and ordering a foot-long Polish. Rather, I want to attack a greasy, two-handed bacon double patty.It's all right to love both. Food is not a monogamous relationship.The best I can do is present a case for each sandwich.The case for cheesesteak-- Evolutionarily speaking, human palates respond more favorably to fats. Fried beef provides that more so than roasted beef.-- The classic, unbeatable flavor combination of beef, melted cheese and grilled onions.-- Texturally more interesting. In particular: crispness, from the shards of beef to the griddled bread. An Italian beef soaked in jus doesn't require much chewing.The case for Italian beef-- Its flavors are bolder. Far more interesting Italian spicing, using oregano, basil and red pepper flakes. If you're a fan of garlic, the Italian beef is for you.-- Variable spice index. If you like it hot, pile on the giardiniera and blast off into space. Or don't.-- A sloppy, running-down-your-chin experience. Chicagoans created a leaning, 75 degree angle stance just for consuming this. Oiliness of the giardiniera adds a richness to the jus-soaked sandwich.-- Healthier, relatively speaking, than the greasy Philly cheesesteak. I am a Hong Kong person.迷你倉 I was born in this city, I spent my childhood and adolescence here, I have permanent residency, and a Hong Kong identity card with three stars. I am ethnically Chinese through my mother. But behind these simple statements lies a more complicated reality. I am also American, as indicated by my US passport. I went to university in the United States.I have multiple identities, all overlapping at the same time. One of these identities, no more or less dominant than the others, is my identity as a Hong Kong person.Some people like to argue that, since Hong Kong is a part of China, to be Hong Kong is to be Chinese. And to be Chinese, is to be fully Chinese, in culture and language, and in tune with current developments on the mainland. As the author Gish Jen said to The New York Times, “to many (Chinese) ... you have to be culturally Chinese, and that’s much deeper than anything you can acquire by yourself.” Anyone that is not Chinese in this way cannot really be a Hong Kong person.But I disprove that view. I am just as much a Hong Kong person as anyone else who can claim the privilege. I qualify under any of the rational criteria that could be used to define a Hong Kong person. This is despite the fact that I would likely not be considered truly Chinese, under the monolithic view described above.Put another way, I cannot be told to “go home” by those who think I am a foreigner; Hong Kong is my home.I would like to think that many would accept my statement that I am a Hong Kong person without controversy. But, if I can be a Hong Kong person without being fully Chinese, we can then draw numerous conclusions about the nature of a Hong Kong identity.The first is that I am not alone in having a strong claim to a Hong Kong identity. There are countless groups in Hong Kong — Southeast and South Asians, for example — that can identify with the city despite not being Chinese. Certain groups, like the South Asian populations, have lived here for more than a century, and could just as reasonably claim to belong here as many Chinese residents can.Another conclusion is that if we accept the existence of multiple identities, then a Hong Kong identity does not have to be mutually exclusive with a Chinese identity. The mini storageast majority of Hong Kong residents hold these two identities with no contradiction between them. Nor is a Hong Kong identity mutually exclusive with any other national identity. In my case, having a Hong Kong identity does not preclude me from being an American, nor does it preclude an Indian resident from being both Hongkonger and Indian.This is a significant difference from what some people say about a separate Hong Kong identity. To both the far left and the far right, any discussion of a separate identity necessitates the rejection of a Chinese identity, though they obviously disagree on whether this is good or bad.This brings us to the question of what constitutes the Hong Kong identity? Hong Kong is a global city, and those that identify with it likely value freedom of movement and international experience. Three hours travel from Hong Kong takes you to at least a dozen different cultures and political systems. Compare this to New York, another global city: the only different system within three hours travel is Canada.However, the Hong Kong identity remains mostly undefined, and discussions of how it could be understood tend to be mired in furious debate. Some on the left argue that any discussion of separate identity is tantamount to separatism, while the far right argues that those who accept Hong Kong’s way of life must wholly reject their identity as Chinese people.The truth, as so often, probably lies somewhere in the middle. Hong Kong has its own identity, but it is not mutually exclusive with a Chinese identity, or any other national identity, for that matter. Many people and politicians would likely agree with this idea, yet this agreement is lost in a polarized debate.Determining what the Hong Kong identity is made of could help us think about what Hong Kong actually is. Hong Kong is clearly not a country, but it is more than just a city, and we lack a paradigm that can help us think about Hong Kong. "First, although an economy's overall GDP growth may not be very sensitive to global economic developments, some of its components, such as consumption or investment, might be. Second, apart from the effects of external developments in the real sector, Asia-Pacific growth is also subject to financial shocks, which growth betas neglect by construction."That is not to say growth betas are not useful. S&P found that growth in the more export-dependent, newly industrialised economies - such as South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore - tend to have a high beta to global growth. Their growth tends to suffer when global economic activity slows, given the dominance of high value-added consumer and capital goods in their production base, which are in highest demand in the advanced economies.In contrast, "low-beta" economies - the South-east Asian economies, particularly the Philippines and Indonesia - are relatively resilient. These economies have a large young labour force and rising incomes, which help fuel domestic consumption. They also have a renewed push to further private and public investment. These two factors allow these economies to grow at reasonable rmini storagetes despite global economic shocks, S&P said.But the ratings agency wanted to go beyond this; it addressed some of the gaps in the growth beta framework by focusing on the response of domestic investment to external factors.It used the well-known Chicago Board Options Exchange Market Volatility Index (VIX). VIX represents market expectations of stockmarket volatility over the coming month, and can be a good gauge of investor sentiment; a higher VIX indicates more market stress and vice versa.To investigate even further, S&P also used a vector regression, a common statistical model, that took into account feedback loops and dynamic effects ignored in its VIX analyses.It found that changes in global risk appetite matter more for Asia-Pacific's real investment than external demand. S&P said investment outcomes responded negatively to the VIX in all the Asia-Pacific economies in its sample, except Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan. The impact was persistent in most cases, with a shock to risk appetite still hindering cyclical investment a few quarters later. In contrast, it found that exports significantly affected investment only in Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Singapore.It found that domestic interest rates had a negligible effect on cyclical investment, except in Indonesia, which contrasts with the usual view of monetary policy.The sensitivities of investment to external financing diverge from the growth betas, S&P said. “沒那麼嚴重”，儲存倉9月18日，遇襲第六天，上一年度中國大陸首富宗慶後在他的辦公室對在場者說。上午短短幾個小時，娃哈哈商業王國的權力結構，卻像6年前達娃之爭時一樣，引起廣泛的關注。境內外媒體報道，宗慶後遇襲被砍斷了四根手指的肌腱，且有人爆料稱此次襲擊可能不是打劫，而是來自高管的報復，原因是娃哈哈內部有機構運作“陷入停滯”，多位高管被停待崗。精准指向這家家族式企業治理特徵的傳言，而不是宗慶後遇襲的細節，迅速放大了事態的商業影響。18日上午，娃哈哈相關員工對宗慶後遇襲有過多種回複，一度意在否認事件。同時，相關負責人也否認娃哈哈因機構調整而陷入“停滯”一說。警方知情人士告訴本報記者，此事件由杭州市政府迅速接手介入處置，隨後中午，新華社受官方委托，獨家發佈消息，證實了此前宗慶後遇襲的傳言。“嫌疑人是在宗慶後的住宅小區內蹲點了3天。”該人士透露。“烏龍”動機2010年、2012年、2013年四年間，宗慶後三次坐擁福布斯等榜單中國內地富豪首富，個人身家被估測達820億元。首富出生于1945年10月，浙江杭州人，祖籍江蘇宿遷。巧合的是，襲擊宗慶後的楊姓犯罪嫌疑人是江蘇蘇州人，現年49歲。新華社報道稱，9月13日清晨，宗慶後在杭州上城區住處遭到楊姓人士持刀要挾行凶，左手兩根手指肌腱受傷。當天下午15時，杭州警方抓獲嫌疑人。“嫌疑人是在宗慶後的住宅小區內蹲點了3天。”一知情人士向記者透露。根據警方披露，上半年，楊某借款3萬元，從蘇州到杭州尋工作，因為年紀大的緣由，至今沒著落。但他從電視上看到宗慶後熱心幫助農民工的訪談後，便找上了他，要求能給他提供一個工作，但沒能如願，便實施前述行為。至於涉嫌犯罪的細節，以及形成前述涉罪動機的邏輯聯繫，嫌疑人的精神是否正常等等，因此案尚在審查中，詳細情況警方沒進一步披露。而在警方18日將楊的涉罪動機公佈之前，有媒體報道宗慶後被砍可能是因為有人報復。這個現在看上去有些“烏龍”的動機，起于此前有媒體報道娃哈哈集團“獨立負責商業運作的娃哈哈商業公司出現高管集體停職待崗，運行實質上陷入停滯狀態。”讓烏龍繼續引人注意的背景還有，彭博億萬富翁排行榜數據顯示，萬達集團董事長王健林超越宗慶後，以淨資產估值142億美元奪得中國內地首富，而宗慶後則以淨資產估值110億美元，退居其後。又加上近幾年，這家中國的飲料大王業績增幅確有所下滑。有業內人士援引的公開數據顯示，娃哈哈的營收增長率在放緩甚至逆轉。 2009年，娃哈哈實現營業收入432億元，同比2008年增長31.7%；2010年實現營業收入548.8億元，同比增長27%；2011年實現營業收入670億元，同比增長22.1%；2012年，實現營業收入636.31億元，同比下滑6.5%。宗氏“交接”未完結如果說，前述業績的變化令宗慶後遇襲烏龍動機形成，顯得可以理解外，其女宗馥莉、宗慶後父女在公開場合發表的經營理念與方向，則被解讀為“分歧”的明朗化，更令前述揣測顯得有些 “確鑿”。“如果一個機構，兩個具有影響力的領導人，主導方向不同，肯定會讓我們下屬感到迷茫，無所適從。”一名已離職的中層透露。宗慶後與女兒宗馥莉，前者將近古稀之年，後者剛過而立，年輪恰逢“交接班”的敏感時期。宗氏父女，一個被外界解讀具備紅色風格，一個有系統的西方教育背景，兩人經營企業一直呈現“互補”的效應。相對而言，女兒治理更講究制度化。“中部地區的經銷商王先生自稱已經與娃哈哈合作了十幾年了。該名經銷商透露，在跟娃哈哈的業務往來之中，發現他們的治理結構在慢慢變化，”起初，純粹靠宗總的個人魅力，聽說很多事情親力親為。“但近幾年聽接觸到的內部員工反映，接觸宗慶後的機會越來越少了。”多名娃哈哈員工透露，實際上是公司管理越來越制度化。尤其在宗馥莉進入娃哈哈以來，變化比較大。這個變化讓娃哈哈員工感覺明顯的時間節點在2005年前後。上述員工透露說，05年前後，娃哈哈集團所有管理及規劃基本上都由宗慶後一個人說了算，彼時，娃哈哈集團不像其他企業，設置董事會、集團副總裁、副總經理等職位，娃哈哈集團財務部、銷售部等所有業務部門直接由宗慶後一人管理。但是，後來公司公佈了一整套的制度，通過制度管人。在一個公開場合，宗慶後稱，集團今後還將設置董事會等迷你倉構，而不是由一個人維繫集團存亡，“等到這一整套制度建立後，我將退下去。”本報瞭解到，2004年，在洛杉磯佩珀代因大學修讀完國際貿易專業的宗馥莉回國，2005年成為娃哈哈中層團隊一員。先後擔任娃哈哈蕭山二號基地管委會副主任，杭州娃哈哈童裝有限公司與杭州娃哈哈卡倩娜日化有限公司總經理，娃哈哈旗下的杭州宏勝飲料集團有限公司總裁、進出口公司總經理。近期，上述員工還發現，父女兩人的經營理念與方向，看上去並非那麼一致，而且分歧比較明顯。在一次公開場合，宗慶後的掌上明珠宗馥莉表達出明顯的反對聲。今年7月17日，娃哈哈商業公司在北京召開新聞發佈會，宗慶後對外透露，娃哈哈已初步確定在天津、貴陽、宜昌、南陽、新鄉自建城市綜合體，並且正準備與中國台灣遠東百貨、新加坡來福士、英國阿蘭澤（Allanzia）投資公司等業界同行洽談合作等。對於此舉，宗馥莉在公開場合明顯表示不贊同。而且，對於娃哈哈目前的公司治理，也指出明顯的弊端所在。“他們每天都在等著老闆（宗慶後）的指示，然後突然間等不到會覺得說，我今天干嘛呢？我不知道。”8月26日，宗馥莉在接受鳳凰財經70分鐘的獨家專訪之際，也表示出擔心。“公司有制度，只不過這些制度相當于形同虛設，大家習慣了等老闆每天晚上傳真，然後寫1、2、3、4、5、6、7，然後誰幹嘛，該幹嘛。”“以前他的確可以這麼做，因為公司小，以前大概只有1000、2000個人，而現在都有2、3萬，你說讓他執行，他不可能一個人盯得過來。”業務布局變遷娃哈哈有機構調整陷入停滯一說也並非完全空穴來風。娃哈哈系列公司的境內外布局，早已被視為複雜的企業王國。近三年，娃哈哈系下機構呈多元化擴張之勢，其間子、孫公司的重新組合較為常見，境外實體亦曾成批量地注銷。公司、機構法定代表人仍然集中于宗慶後及其妻女。記者調查得知，僅僅在浙江，法定代表人以宗慶後為名的機構至少有52家，而宗馥莉為法定代表人的機構僅為2家。浙江一經濟研究機構人士透露，比較明顯的情況是，宗慶後太太為法定代表人的機構，基本也由宗馥莉主要負責。隨著宗馥莉的進入，娃哈哈近三年的多元化投資則顯得非常活躍。介入的領域有零售百貨業，投資領域、科技領域等等。“但這並不能確定是否完全受宗馥莉的影響。”但是，多元化擴展已經呈現非常清晰。存量利益的調整隨之而來。2010年11月8日，成立浙江娃哈哈創業投資有限公司，法定代表人為宗馥莉。次年10月31日，又一家投資公司浙江合源投資有限公司成立。2011年5月16日，杭州娃哈哈科技有限公司成立，預示著向科技領域進軍。2002年12月19日，杭州娃哈哈卡倩娜日化用品有限公司成立介入百貨領域。傳統飲料食品領域卻如前述業績數據一樣有所收縮。比如余姚娃哈哈食品有限公司，成立在2005年3月18日，營業期限至2008年3月31日，目前狀態為“吊銷”。與境內的機構擴張之勢相比，娃哈哈體系在境外則有大批公司注銷。尤其近兩年，有公開的資料顯示，從2011年11月25日至2013年1月4日，共有9家境外公司注銷，包括美國娃哈哈食品飲料有限公司，娃哈哈香港飲料食品公司，娃哈哈國際集團有限公司等。2013年3月29-30日，在第十屆中國商業地產行業發展論壇上，娃哈哈又首次詳細披露了其商業地產戰略。但是這些項目的市場定位，在宗慶後口中也曾多次出現調整。宗慶後表示，娃哈哈近幾年進行多元化發展，主要看需求、能力與機會。娃哈哈選擇商業零售作為多元化經營的第一步，因為商業地產會在中國城鎮化進程中扮演重要角色，娃哈哈可以在一些新生市場找到合適的發展機遇，大中小城市齊頭並進。在多元化的擴展中，運作與“設想”並非全如人意。2010年12月，宗慶後表示娃哈哈集團有進入礦產資源開發的想法。2011年3月，宗慶後接受採訪時說，娃哈哈正在和香港的一家做礦的公司合作，但2012年初左右，宗慶後接受採訪時表示，已經放棄在澳大利亞開采鐵礦的計劃，而希望在西澳大利亞地區建養牛場和奶粉廠。67歲的宗慶後仍然是決定格局的核心角色。因而他突然遇襲後，消息一度封閉，進而很快被假想為一次內部“推翻”行動。治理問題似乎成為宗的宿命。他自己則通過新華社記者澄清，這次遇襲只是一次意外。言下之意否定了此前媒體報道因機構調整的“報復說”。迷你倉最平
