Travel out of Seoul to experience the country's natural beauty and rustic attractionsThe weather was damp; the air, thick and humid.self storage Still, plenty of people were out walking at a wetland park in Suncheon Bay, South Korea.Scenic landscapes and cultural sites are not exactly the first things that come to mind when I think of South Korea. But walking along a boardwalk in an endless sea of green willowy reeds and breathing in fresh air, I realised that South Korea has so much more to offer beyond K-pop, K-drama serials, plastic surgery and make-up. One just needs to venture beyond the capital city of Seoul.On a week-long media trip, I made my way around the Korean peninsula. Travelling with others invited by the Korea Tourism Organization in a hired mini- bus, I explored several provinces and counties, including the south-western provinces of Jeollanam- do and Jeollabuk-do, the coastal city of Gyeongju and the north-eastern province of Gangwon. We visited temples and traditional folk villages, and trekked up mountains.At the Suncheon Bay Ecological Park, or the Field Of Reeds as it is also known, it was easy to see why the place had been awarded the Star of Korean Tourism two years ago. The title is given by the Korea Tourism Organization and the Ministry of Culture, Sports for its scenic beauty and well-preserved natural environment.Located in the South Jeolla province, three or four hours from Seoul, the eco park is like a giant labyrinth that could take hours to explore, thickly covered with reeds taller than myself. Visiting during the low-peak season at the start of July, which saw mostly overcast skies or rain and mist-shrouded horizons, I felt the gloomy weather added to the park's sublime serenity.Close to the wetland is a shining new jewel in South Korea's tourism, the Suncheon Bay Garden Expo. Spanning 330,000 sq m of land, with 82 types of gardens, the Garden Expo brings botany and garden landscape design from around the world to one location.Somehow, the South Koreans have managed to replicate themed gardens inspired by various countries in a vast open-air enclosure: a French-styled garden complete with a white terrace overlooking the geometric layout of shrubbery, a Dutch-styled garden filled with tulips and an actual windmill, and a traditional American rose garden were among those I saw. The small plots were not majestic by any means but worth viewing as a collection.Ironically, the feature that stood out the most for me had nothing to do with the flora and fauna.Instead, a 140m-long bridge connecting the main expo site to a wetland centre caught my eye. Built from old shipping containers, the Dream Bridge is covered with more than 140,000 colourful square tiles, each decorated with drawings and writings by children all over world. The bridge stands as an emblem of hope, that the kids' dreams will be carried off in the wind and shared with people.Driving east for a few hours from Suncheon will get you to Busan. In Gijang-gun in north-eastern Busan, a temple took my breath away. The Haedong Yonggungsa Temple faces the sea, perched on a mountain slope along a rocky coast.Park at the top of a cliff and walk down 108 steps to reach the temple. The climb down may be tiring, but the view once there is breathtaking. Watching locals meditating in front of a giant statue of Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (Smini storageawater Great Goddess Buddha) and enjoying the sea breeze, I found myself utterly at peace.Those up for a short trek should head to the coastal city of Gyeongju, in the north Gyeongsang province, about five hours away from Seoul. There, you will find the famed Seokguram Grotto, a Unesco Heritage site famed for its 3.5m-high statue of Buddha, accompanied by three bodhisattva, 10 disciples and two Hindu gods along the wall of the rotunda within the grotto.The fresh smell of pine greeted me as I trekked up the winding slopes of Mount Toham, a 745m-tall mountain on which the grotto lies. The artificial grotto was built from granite to house the monumental sitting Buddha statue, which looks out to sea in the bhumisparsha mudra ("earth witness") position, with his left palm upwards in his lap and right hand touching the earth.Visitors were not allowed to take photos of the statue, but what made up for it was the fantastic view from the mountain top, overlooking what looked like villages and miles of farm land down below.Just down from the grotto, I came across a booth where tourists could purchase roof tiles to write their wishes on.Among the pile of "wishing tiles" that were stacked neatly on the ground in rows, one grabbed my attention. Handwritten in white ink, it was a wish from a fellow hoping for a nice condominium in the prime area of District 9 and a girlfriend. A Singaporean, I thought, amused.The travelling time it took to get from place to place by mini-bus also allowed me to take in the countryside beauty outside South Korea's metropoles - misty mountains, endless rice fields and shrimp farms, and the pleasant seaside coastline.Aside from the temples and eco parks, I managed to get a taste of traditional village life in Andong, in the North Gyeongsang province.A picturesque place called the Andong Hahoe Folk Village is nestled along the winding Nakdonggang river ("Hahoe" means "winding river") in Pungcheon- myeon, five hours from Seoul. Quaint clay and straw-roof huts pepper the land, which offers an amazing view of the towering Taebaeksan Mountains, which reach a height of over 1,500m.Dating back to the 16th century, the village and its layout is typical of a traditional clan village from the Joseon dynasty. Venture into it and one can see architecture of the period, such as tiled-roof residences and thatched-roof servants' homes to distinguish between the aristocrats and the lower working class.The village appeared to be relatively uncommercialised. I spotted only a small souvenir shop selling wooden crafts, and we seemed to be the only group of international tourists there. As I wandered through the narrow dirt roads, surrounded by lush greenery and enormous beds of lotus plants, I marvelled at how the place is still unspoilt.A standout for me in the folk village was a neighbouring 64m-high cliff known as the Buyongdae. From the village, you can admire the stunning cliff that wraps along the Nakdonggang river. Weary travellers can rest on carved wood benches placed along the river bank.Back in Seoul after a week, I found myself with a new understanding of and appreciation for the country's natural wonders. Her new exhibition, opening at Verve Gallery of Photography on Friday, Sept. 27, is an amazing tour of cultures and faces. There is a Mongolian falconer with a chest full of Soviet-era war medals and a hooded eagle on his hand. There's a gorgeous photo of stilt fishermen in Sri Lanka and others of a Burmese (Myanmar) shaman with an amazingly tattooed face; of a camel trader in Rajashthan, India, standing with more than a dozen of the gangly beasts; and of an airborne rhinoceros -- captured running, in a split second when all four feet are off the ground.What marks the difference between these photos and Wier's previous work is that these are color infrared images. It's her newest specialty.Wier was born in Texas and grew up in Washington, D.C. Before finding her heart in photography, she studied outdoor education at Prescott College in Arizona and was an instructor for Outward Bound, which offers expedition experiences with a personal-growth subtext.Everything changed when Outward Bound sent Weir to Nepal. She discovered, with the sensibility of an anthropologist, that she loved using her camera to capture tribal peoples. Since that time, the longtime Santa Fe resident has made excursions to Columbia, Mongolia, Peru, Sri Lanka, India, and Iceland. She has gone to Burma every year since 1986.A Fellow of the Explorer's Club, she has had her work published in National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine, and Outside. A National Geographic Explorer television show focused on her travels down the Blue Nile in Ethiopia. Her publications include Adventure Travel Photography: How to Shoot Great Pictures Off the Beaten Track, and she is currently working on Outer India and Myanmar: Lost in Time.Pasatiempo interviewed her at her home and studio in La Cienega.Pasatiempo: You've been an instructor for the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops for 16 years. Do you have anything coming up?Nevada Wier: I'm doing a workshop next week [Sept. 16 to 20]. It's called Creativity and Travel Photography. We're going to the State Fair. They'll have little stories. Teaching is one piece of the pie I must do to stay afloat, to be able to do my personal projects. I don't do as much for magazines as I used to. There aren't as many assignments, and the day rate has not gone up. I do a combination of talks, workshops, seminars, and some stock photography, which is dwindling.Pasatiempo: Why is that?Wier: Photography is a very democratic medium. Everybody can get at least one great picture, and now you can put it on Flickr, and Getty [Images] can do a search and find that one-hit wonder. They don't need photographers that are consistent. Newspaper and magazine photographers have to be consistent. In 1982, I worked for the Santa Fe Reporter, and that was great training. But at the beginning of the 2000s it was pretty clear that digital was where everything was going. I had one of the first digital cameras, and I went 100-percent digital in 2004.Pasatiempo: It's a new world for the professional photographer.Wier: It is, and you have to pick and choose. With all the social media you have to decide how much you want to give away for free and how many blog articles you want to write for other people's websites. When I started, the Great Barrier Reef was the photo editors. If you didn't get beyond the Great Barrier Reef, you were not a professional photographer, at least in my genre, which is travel photography, or it's really ethnographic photography. I am not a classic travel photographer. I haven't been to Europe since 1970. I work in more tribal groups, more anthropological photography.Now I'm aware of people who have great recognition just by having a good website. At least I can say, Yay, I've worked for National Geographic. I still do work for them, but I'm not in the long queue begging for assignments anymore. I'm real lucky that I had the chance to do those. There's nothing like being儲存倉on assignment and that pressure to get it done. What I really love right now are personal projects documenting tribal cultures.Pasatiempo: Your first camera was a wooden Deardorff view camera.Wier: I still have my film cameras but I prefer digital. It is more time- consuming, but I like the technology. And, for me, there's nothing better than printing from a digital file.Pasatiempo: This exhibit is all color infrared. Tell us about that.Wier: It doesn't have that sort of ethereal glow that people associate with black-and-white infrared. In 2007 I had one of my cameras converted, which meant taking off the filter that blocks the infrared light from the sensor. What I like about this is that I can see you but metaphysically speaking I'm photographing something I can't see, because we can only see the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum.It's similar to black-and-white photography. One reason I think people thought that was art was because you had to strip out color. You had to see the world differently. It's the same with this: I have to imagine you in infrared. The photos look very, very different. Skin becomes very pale, and it brings out tattoos and scarification. Brown skins look quite white. A lot of the people would look at these and say, "I'm a ghost. What did you do to me? You're making me ugly." You have to embrace the technology, because it is tricky to get the color just right. You have to use custom white balances. It is often difficult to predict the colors, and focus, when shooting infrared.Pasatiempo: Why did you think of going toward this in photography?Wier: It has the ability to make you stop and look. You can't relate to it. I started out in black and white, then I was doing color and now this; it's like this in-between world. And, again, I like the metaphysical aspect of it -- that I'm photographing something I can't see.Pasatiempo: What is the time period of the photos in the show at Verve?Wier: Most of them are from the last three years.Pasatiempo: Where did your strong interest in people and cultures come from?Wier: Well, I grew up in Washington, D.C. and I went to a very small college in Arizona, Prescott College. I grew up very political, very cerebral, then I ended up rock climbing and kayaking, then came to Santa Fe for the Outward Bound school. I was an instructor. We went to the Gila and Pecos. I also ran river trips in the Grand Canyon and, in 1978, they sent me to Nepal to run their trekking program.In Nepal I thought I was going to be a climbing photographer, but the villages were much more interesting. That's where it started.Pasatiempo: You're shooting digital and using Photoshop now, but did you do [the traditional darkroom techniques of] dodging and burning when you were using film?Wier: Oh, yeah. I had a darkroom. My philosophy as a photographer is I'm old school, where everything has to be right in the camera. If I crop at all, it's tiny, and I never change any content. I'm still working in that journalistic world. I take it seriously. Photoshop, for me, is an expansion of dodging and burning.To me, everything in the frame has to matter, and a print is a singular manifestation; it's like a sculpture. I used to shoot slides and give them to the magazine editors. When I first started making prints from digital, I went back and read Ansel Adams' old books, because he was a master at building in texture and almost 3-D relief in a flat piece of paper. In National Geographic, the story has to stand on its own, but a print has to have a soul, because it doesn't have a story attached. 【本報記者鄭振東贛州市廿七日電】澳區全國人大代表團今日視察瑞金市。代團長李沛霖表示,mini storage現今社會需善用革命精神,官員們更要體會革命精神,每一級領導幹部真正做到實事求是,反對形式主義、官僚主義、享樂主意及奢靡之風,更好地為人民服務,建設國家,復興民族。全國人民也要擁有革命精神,多為國家著想,從自身做起,更好地建設國家。紅都聖地生態良好代表團今日在葉坪革命舊址群敬獻花籃,隨後參觀紅井舊址群、“二蘇大”舊址及中央革命根據地歷史博物館。中午,江西省人大常委會副主任陳安�在瑞金市與代表團會面,贛州市人大常委會黨組副書記溫會禮,瑞金市委書記鍾炳明,瑞金市人大常委會主任陽純普等出席。他介紹江西旅遊概況,瑞金是聞名中外的紅色故都、共和國搖籃、中央紅軍長徵出發地,是蘇區時期黨中央駐地、蘇維埃中央政府誕生地,以及毛澤東思想的主要形成地和蘇區精神、黨的三大優良作風的主要發源地。瑞金雖然較為偏僻,但作為紅都聖地,且生態環境良好,故吸引大量旅客到訪。傍晚,贛州市長冷新生與代表團會面。澳區全國人大代表梁玉華表示,在瑞金臨時政府時,看到先烈們如何艱苦奮鬥,在困難的環境下,依然細心工作,服務人民,為人民所擁戴。新中國成立後,經濟持續發展,如何做好群�工作,需通過科學調研,真心實意逐一解決,政府才會進一步受到愛戴,國家才能更為穩固。今屆是第二次參與人大工作,國家發現問題所在,每次工作報告皆強調以民為本。希望相關工作能夠與時俱進,認真思考如何解決人民需求,達到二○二○年全面建成小康迷你倉會,由現有勝利邁向更大的勝利。是次江西之行,是過往視察中整體經濟實力較低的地區,但生態環境良好,優勢顯著,經濟發展時更能汲取發達地區的經驗,取長補短,達更佳的發展之效。紅色引人綠色留人李沛霖表示,是次視察江西,重點之一為視察紅色革命根據地,一路由南昌、井岡山、興國縣、瑞金到贛州,充分體現、瞭解人民軍隊如何誕生,中國革命如何實現“星星之火,可以燎原”等。在交通便捷、道路暢通下,代表團走過上述地點,亦要耗費相當時間、路途漫長,從中體會革命精神從醞釀、誕生,以至引導全國人民革命,建立共和國,過程殊不容易。深表認同江西整體發展的“紅色吸引人,綠色留住人,情景感染人”,因為這裡是紅色中國的搖籃;注重生態建設,綠色食品、綠色環境皆有益身心,自然留得住人;科技手段呈現當年革命奮鬥的情景,讓人深受感動。除了上述三點,他更感覺“精神鼓舞人”,因為不論八一精神、井岡山精神、興國精神、瑞金精神,皆是革命精神的組成部分,對人民利益的爭取起鼓舞作用。今天的中國社會以至人們思想,出現的方向性、追求變化等問題,值得人們注意。如何在現今社會中善用革命精神,鼓舞官員更好地為人民服務,建設國家,達到民族復興,皆是今次視察的體會。作為人大代表,亦要思考如何善用革命精神,要求自身更好地履行人大職責,同樣值得思考。明天,代表團參觀郁孤台、八境台、歷史文化街區提升改造項目後,將舉行反饋意見會,就過去數天的所見所聞,提出個人意見和建議,供江西發展參考。(相關圖片由本報記者鄭振東贛州數碼傳真)文件倉

近年,儲存真的有鋪愛玩平板電腦及電子閱讀「器」癮……。iPad 差不多代代Up 「機」,iOS 6 時代的iPad,玩到很厭,就很期待全「身」裝載iOS 7 的新iPad 5 及iPadMini Retina快點現真身。偶然在網上,見到「漏」了出來的新iPad 5 及iPadMini Retina 「玉照」,更覺iPad 5 的款式設計,將與iPadMini Retina 統一看齊。身裁進一步瘦身的新iPad 5,外形和賣相均相當可取,相信新iPad 5 及iPad Mini Retina 這對「同門師兄弟」,將熱賣之外,更會成為金色版iPhone 5s以後, 不少愛「�鑊鏟」之人,另一短炒對象。我仍忍受不了iPhone 5s 和iPhone 5c 的4 吋細屏幕,覺得它們有點浪費了iOS 7 「快、靚、正」的精采長處,所以更加想在屏幕較大的新iPad 系列之內,更盡情地體驗iOS 7 的簡約和快感,更莫說極期待,明年大屏幕iPhone 6的來臨。閒來時,尤其是用作狂看網上紀錄片或短片,或進行與工作風馬牛不相及的電子書閱讀, 手上既愛玩iPad,也愛玩第二代Android 版的Nexus 7,皆因在美加外遊時,買回來用,更覺抵食夾「細」件,一則HD 屏幕極亮麗,另一則機身還要較iPad Mini 嬌小,但性能卻有過之而無不及。相信iPad Mini Retina 一出,第二代的Nexus 7 很快便會被比下去,事關有了iOS 7 和Retina 屏幕等,再加上一些新功能的Upgrade,iPad Mini Retina 照例應該保得住細板腦盟主的嘜頭。想落,板腦愈出愈平,功能也拍得住一般智能手機,尤其是拿�細iPad 出街、上班的人,愈來愈比拿�大iPad 的為多; 反觀,除了在國內大賣的小米2 或其他中、低檔智能手機外,一般大牌子,例如Apple、Samsung、Sony、以及HTC 等智能手機,還是熱中於推出較高價錢的智能手機系列,尤其是Samsung、Sony、以及HTC 等智能手機,除了屏幕愈出愈大之外,更是屏幕大小尺寸,較iPhone 更齊全,可見板腦與智能手機的價錢和屏幕尺寸,確實走向兩極化。Nokia推平版雙卡手機殺�若然Apple肯放下身段和成見,同時間一併推出屏幕約6 吋、5 吋、以至4 吋的高、中、低價iPhone,來四面包圍及大小通吃,而非像今回以金屬殼和膠質料等顏色機身,來區分iPhone 5s 及iPhone 5c 的價位和檔self storage,相信新iPhone更能突圍而出,熱賣得更有「錢」途。正當眾對手們,埋首推出細板腦及大「塊」大智能手機之際,Nokia 在失勢於智能手機市場之同時,卻推出平價版、細件頭的Nokia 208 雙SIM 流動電話,除了可作3.5G 上網之外,更可用作MP3 機、收音機、低像素相機及短片攝影機等,並可配以32GB 之MicroSD 記憶卡支援,是定位為「後備手機」的聰明攝位之作,再作一進步引證行銷的重要武器,每每離不開「人有我有」、「人有我優」、「人平我貴」、或「人貴我平」等不同招式。由板腦、智能手機、平價流動電話、以至電子閱讀器等,不少人除了視它們為娛樂、�食、以至學習工具之外,更會像我這類電玩迷, 「器」癮一到時,便把它們當玩具來打發時間。十多年來,也使用過不同的電子閱讀器,而近年的心頭好,當然是首推以e-ink做主打,閱讀時不刺眼、不反光,兼且近似紙張閱讀的Amazon Kindle Paperwhite、KindleTouch、以及Kobo Mini等。「器」癮一到e-ink上手當然,不少人也說,隨�多功能的板腦,愈出愈平,屏幕畫面愈省鏡,兼且可用作電子閱讀,只會把電子閱讀器的銷量勁拖低,進一步把電子閱讀器邊緣化,但用慣e-ink 電子閱讀器的書迷,總會覺得使用Kindle Paperwhite 之類來閱讀, 是紙張閱讀以外的另類閱讀享受,尤其是它剛推出的第二代,採用了新一代的Carta 屏幕顯示,令閱讀更接近紙張閱讀,更何況使用電子閱讀器時,更加可「讀」孤一味地閱讀,比較專注,而非像使用板腦時,經常「周遊列國」,到處上網瀏覽或使用機內Apps,作為看短片及打機等不同娛樂。再者,約在本年中所推出的一部Kobo Aura HD,把自己定位為電子「閱讀器中的保時捷」,除了配置4GB 的記憶容量外,更可作高達32GB 之MicroSD 記憶卡支援,並可閱讀epub、mobi、及PDF等不同格式的電子書,矛頭一直指向Kindle Paperwhite, 兼且售價貼近16GB 版的第二代Nexus 7,是目前售價最貴、規格最高的e-reader,只可惜第二代Kindle Paperwhite 使用了新一代的Carta 屏幕顯示,立刻把Kobo Aura HD 的優勢比了下來,可見一「機」還有一「機」高,即使是電玩「器」癮發作也好,凡是出新機之前,始終都是做足功課和格價比較,方可為自己Up「機」得有�數和回報……。江燕來innobranding@mac.com迷你倉

  上海自由貿易區掛牌在即,self storage不論外資及中資銀行均準備在自貿區搶灘。除熱傳�豐(005)、渣打(2888)、東亞(023)有望成為首批在該區「插旗」的外資行外,建行(939)昨日亦宣布,計畫設立上海自貿區分行,並已正式向監管部門遞交了申請。  建行指出,未來該行的上海自貿區分行,將會開展全方位在岸及離岸金融業務,加強重點領域產品和服務創新。該行還會在自貿區分行成立後兩年內,通過遷址或新設方式適當增設網點。渣打洪丕正:有極大興趣  身兼渣打香港行政總裁的銀行公會主席洪丕正昨表示,自貿區歡迎中資及外資行參與,兩者框架是一樣的,故中資行將可參與離岸人民幣業務,認為中資mini storage外資行可共同協助內地金融改革及人民幣國際化。至於渣打方面,對上海自貿區有極大興趣,並已跟內地相關機構溝通。  �豐亞太區行政總裁王冬勝相信,內地金融市場的進一步開放將在產品創新、企業融資和投資等領域為外資銀行提供新的發展機遇。作為中國內地規模最大的外資行,�豐期待參與上海自貿區的試點業務。東亞中國設研究小組  此外,東亞中國非常看好上海自貿區的前景,為此特別成立了針對該區的金融服務工作小組,且正積極開展研究及各項準備工作,以應對自貿區建立所帶來的機遇。該行將根據政策最新動向,適時向監管機構遞交在該區開設營業機構的申請資料。永亨中國則會積極觀察及研究,再考慮布局。迷你倉

Source: La Crosse Tribune, Wis.儲存Sept. 27--The first confirmed case of whooping cough of the school year in La Crosse County is more of a cautionary tale than cause for alarm, according to a county public health nurse.The unnamed student is an upper elementary school pupil in the Onalaska School District, but the student's name and school are not being released."I don't want people to be alarmed by this, because it's only one case," said county public health nurse Jo Foellmi. "But people should check to make sure they are up to date on their Tdap vaccination booster."Whooping cough, or pertussis, is a highly contagious bacterial illness spread by sneezing and coughing, but it is treatable easily with antibiotics.The Onalaska case is the first of this school season and the 13th this year, Foellmi said."We are not surprised there is a case when school starts because that is when people gmini storaget back together," she said.Babies and children are recommended to receive the DTaP vaccination series, and teens and adults receive the Tdap vaccination booster.The Coulee Region Immunization Coalition launched an educational campaign this month to encourage immunization because of a national outbreak last year in which Wisconsin led the country with nearly 6,500 cases. 台南市警局刑警大隊昨偵破以唐姓男子為首的20人電信詐騙集團,此集團專挑大陸上海等地民眾,假裝是「中國電信服務人員」、「假公安」謊稱民眾有欠費斷話,偷改電表等情形恫嚇詐財,1個多月來獲利新台幣逾200萬元,全案依詐欺罪嫌法辦。南市刑大偵四隊表示,警方監聽數日,昨持搜索票進安南區一棟透天民宅,逮捕唐姓男子等20名集團成員,並查扣電話、帳本等辦案工具,他們8月起向大陸民眾詐騙金錢,1個多月來獲利逾人民幣50萬元,因大陸10月1日長假即將來臨,該集團本想提前收工離開台南,沒想到卻在最後一天上班日被逮。儲存
