Source: Vindicator, Youngstown, OhioOct.存倉 02--A few of the region's top banks lost deposits from 2012 to 2013 and ceded market share to others that grew, according to an annual update from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. released Tuesday.For the third-straight year, Huntington National Bank grew its deposits and market share in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Mahoning and Trumbull counties, as well as Mercer County, Pa.The bank has taken an aggressive strategy to grow retail-customer banking and provide convenience in terms of physical location across its six-state footprint. In the Youngstown area, the FDIC reported that the bank had 45 offices as of June 30, nearly doubling that of PNC Bank, which pulled ahead of the First National Bank of Pennsylvania as the region's second-largest bank this year.Huntington grew its market share from 21.9 percent last year to about 23 percent this year, maintaining its place as the region's largest bank by market share. Deposits at the bank are more than $2 billion."I think it's really just a continued execution of that plan," said Frank儲存Hierro, regional president of the Mahoning Valley at Huntington Bank. "Culturally, we focus on fair play and bringing a positive customer experience every time we interact with them. We've created long-term value and relationships."Huntington has instituted a series of retail-banking programs such as its 24-hour grace period, asterisk-free checking that helps consumers avoid overdraft fees and a new credit card that gives customers a choice between a lower interest rate or rewards on purchases.Behind PNC Bank and F.N.B. was First Place Bank, which saw its deposits and market share decrease. The Home Savings and Loan Co. experienced the same trend, but remained the region's fifth-largest bank by market share.Chase Bank grew its deposits and market share to move ahead of Farmers National Bank as the region's sixth-largest bank by market share.
